Indeed. I would give a six-pack of Diet Coke right now for someone to turn up in a purple dress.
OK, I will take advantage of this lull to unveil my first Oscar-night haiku:
Neil Patrick Harris / Last seen: quite dead, in "Gone Girl"/ Now, ready to sing.
Emma Stone is in yellow! My prayers have been answered! Except . . . the dress is kind of hideous.
Emma, though, is always adorable.
Is it just me, or or is Ethan Hawke looking more and more like Tom Cruise? Could someone please cast them as brothers in some goofball comedy?
Did Ethan Hawke just say that he and the Boyhood gang are like "gentle pirates"?
I still think Naomi got a little worried about coverage, and put on a sports bra.
Ah . . . all that white is an Anna Wintour plot. Possibly revenge for "The Devil Wears Prada"?
My imagination does not stretch that far.
By the way, is it just me, or is Steve Carell wearing a fake nose on the red carpet? Maybe it was just the angle.
OK, I can see by the numbers that a lot of you are watching . . . would love to hear from an Oscar party! Anyone have some delicous Oscar-themed treats? We just have cookies that I baked; they turned out strangely flat but quite tasty.
I think they'll be done by 9. If not, I've seen tonight's Downton Abbey episode and can tell you what happened.
Just kidding; I wouldn't do that. Though I have seen it. Who do we think will be the Lady Edith of Oscar night?
J.K. Simmons has, alas, removed his hat. But he wore one on the red carpet, I promise.
Someone in the room has just confused J.K. Simmons with J.K. Rowling. He's the one with the hat.
OK, this new "Cinderella" looks pretty great. Costume-wise, at least.
I think GBH will win quite a few awards, but not the big ones. We shall see!
In honor, a haiku: Ah, 'Grand Budapest" / So very Wes Anderson / Maybe best screenplay?
This is looking like hte set of "Chicago.:
"The best and the whitest . . . sorry, brightest. " Two seconds!
And it's Anna Kendrick, in her Cinderella dress . . .
OK, is that the selfie of the night?
I'm fine with any msuical number that includes dancing Star Wars stormtroopers.
Fun! And kind of a nifty effect at the end.
Fashion watchers: note that Neil is wearing a different tux from the one he wore on the red carpet (which was silver).
